Driftless Organics came into being thirteen years ago under the name Rainbow Potatoes. It was started by Josh and Noah Engel, ages eleven and nine respectively, and as the name suggests they grew a colorful spectrum of potatoes, more than twenty varieties in all. What began as a quarter acre farm has now expanded to twenty-five acres of ridge and valley fields in beautiful Star Valley, Wisconsin. In 2004, Mike Lind joined Josh and Noah and with him he brought not only a similar love for growing great vegetables, but also a desire to add grass fed cattle to the operation. Though potatoes are still their largest crop, they now market raspberries, asparagus, squash, tomatoes, peppers, onions, kale, garlic, collards, strawberries, broccoli and much more.

Certified organic vegetables, fruit, and beef, Harmony Valley Farm reaps the benefits of over 30 years farming experience from Richard de Wilde, who has been growing organic vegetables since 1973. Richard goes above and beyond organics, placing great value on soil fertility and on an integrated, healthy, natural growing environment. Harmony Valley is located in an isolated valley in southwestern Wisconsin. "Our silt loam fields are high in organic matter, humus and biological life. They receive green cover crops, generous amounts of compost and rock powders. Our vegetables are grown and harvested with care and immediately cooled and kept refrigerated. All of our products are certified by the Midwest Organic Services Association."

Hoch Orchard and Gardens is a small organic family farm run by Harry and Jackie Hoch."Our orchard’s first trees were planted in the mid 1940’s. There are only a handful of these old trees left on the farm today. The majority of our orchards are new young trees planted in the past ten years. We now have over 8000 trees planted on approximately twenty-five acres. We have over fifty apple varieties planted on our farm. Many of the newest ones are just coming into production. Our Honeycrisp, Zestar, Sweet 16, Fuji, Keepsake, Ginger gold, and Sansa have been in the stores for a few seasons now with production going up. Some of the new varieties that are just coming into production are Snow Sweet, SweeTango, and Crimson crisp."Apples are not our only crop. We have about two acres of wine grapes and an acre of red raspberries, an acre of strawberries and a half-acre of miscellaneous berries such as black, purple, and yellow raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries. We also grow other tree fruit including plums, apricots, cherries, and some peach trees."

We are a diverse, certified organic farm raising vegetables and livestock on our Ridgeland Harvest70-acre farm in Southwestern Wisconsin. Farming since 2000, we have stayed committed to our original mission of providing a diverse selection of healthy and affordable vegetables and meat directly to our customers. Our customers depend upon our high quality, staple kitchen items such as carrots, broccoli, onions, garlic, leeks, tomatoes, beets & cut greens – along with the more unique items we grow like fennel, chard, kitchen herbs, heirloom tomatoes, brussels sprouts, and celeriac. Our farm has been certified organic since 2004. We strongly believe that synthetic chemicals, fertilizers, and antibiotics are unnecessary when soil is maintained as a living organism. When the soil is healthy, so are the plants that grow from it. We, too, are only as healthy as our source of nourishment: – our food. We feel privileged to grow food and honored to share it with a larger community.

Specializing in certified organic spring seedlings and spring/fall microgreens. River Root Farm is a diversified certified organic vegetable farm run by the two of us, Katie Prochaska and Mike Bollinger, along with occasional help with watering from our 3 year old son Oliver and 1 year old daughter Adeline. The farm consists of almost 8 acres and is divided evenly between terraced fields and woods. Our actual area of production is less than two acres and cultivation is done by hand. We use a system of mobile, unheated high tunnels to maximize our year-round fruit and vegetable production. With our movable high tunnels, we are able to apply the benefits of season extension and crop protection to numerous crops throughout a calendar year.

Scenic Valley is an organic farm that produces fruit and vegetables in high tunnels, a hybrid of open field and greenhouse production. On 30 acres of ridge top land overlooking the broad Kickapoo River Valley, the farm produces organically certified blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, and melons. High tunnels provide nearly all the protection of a greenhouse but since the plants are grown directly in the soil, the fruits and vegetables maintain that unique field grown flavor. Some of the high tunnels on the farm use clean, renewable solar thermal energy to extend the growing season and all of them employ climate control systems to help ensure high quality produce. The farm was founded by Erik Gundacker in 2007 as a way to combine a lifelong passion for horticulture with his new found interest in high tunnel agriculture. It has been growing slowly ever since and hopes to continue providing fresh, organic produce to the region in the years ahead. The farm is also a demonstration farm for our SHARE farm performing research and development on different varieties of fruits and vegetables in a variety of high tunnel configurations. A SHARE farm will be located on the land owned by Scenic Valley Farm.
