VFC is well stocked with salves for all purposes from our talented local herbalists.
Many Co-op shoppers are already familiar with Lusa Organic’s Belly Balm for mothers to be and Booty Balm for the babies, created by Viroqua’s Rachael Wolf.
Mary Glick also of Viroqua offers a Healing Herbal Salve with a thorough blend of herbs known to be antimicrobial and healing to the skin for wounds and rashes. Robin Mari, another of Viroqua’s own, offers her Herbal Healing Salve with herbs to soothe and heal the skin.
Returning for the season is Wild Woman Salve created by Carol Jacobs of Winona, MN, formulated to soothe the chemical burn caused by Poison Parsnip.
New to the Co-op is a full line of salves from Simply B Natural also in Winona; Burn and Wound Salve, a salve for Bruises, Arthritis Rub, Lil’ Bum and Ringworm Remedy. My favorite is the Tendon and Ligament Salve which works wonders to heal injuries and relieve pain. Bonnie Krekow, clinical herbalist, is the creator of this line.
From Jennifer Banowetz, Star Lady Botanicals in LaFarge, we have Comfrey & Calendula, a simple but effective all purpose unscented salve.
Marty Grahms of Hillsboro has created a cooling Chickweed Healing Salve and an antifungal Walnut Salve. New this season is a stick salve called Smoothfoot, for just that purpose, moisturizing and healing cracks on heels and toes.
One of our regional producers is Uriel Pharmacy in East Troy, WI with a First Response Kit of homeopathic first aid remedies for both topical and internal use.
Not only will your skin feel good, but you will, too for supporting local businesses while getting top quality products in the process.
