The Cooperative Spirit
By: Jan Rasikas
This November, just in time for one of the biggest holiday meals of the year, we are having one of our biggest sales yet! All month long, you can save more on the Field Day products you love. Field Day is our co-op house brand that offers quality, primarily certified organic products at everyday low prices you can count on. Check out a Co+op Deals flyer on our website or in the store to find the savings!
This sale is for every shopper, but offers even more value for Viroqua Food Co+op owners who get an additional 10% off with the Owner Extras benefit! If you aren't already a co-op owner now is a great time to join.
Not only will you save money, this sale also comes with an important donation program. Each time you purchase a Field Day item, 5 cents is donated to NATIFS, North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems, founded by Chef Sean Sherman (The Sioux Chef). NATIFS is an Indigenous-led organization working to strengthen Native foodways nationally. Check out pages 4-5 for all the details.
The Co-op Has Everything On Your List
Every day, we’re full to the brim with the fresh foods and pantry staples you can rely on. For the recipes you make, we've got everything on your list! The bulk foods aisle has all the specialty herbs and spices for holiday baking. Plus, fresh nuts and dried fruits, chocolate-covered confections, flours and grains, and honey are also in our bulk bins where you can buy just what you need. The meat & seafood department is full of regional grass-fed and wild-caught choices, cuts and grinds are made fresh right here in-house. And don’t forget fresh baked goods every morning, hot sandwiches, and the hot meal of the day from our deli.
Your Trusted Source For Local Foods
Our focus is local and it's in our mission. Our produce section has many locally grown items, even in November! Local growers, within 100 miles, know that co-op shoppers prioritize fresh, quality, organic food all year long. Squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, salad mix, apples, and cranberries (and so much more) are all grown right here in the Driftless. We have local, organic potatoes all year long thanks to Driftless Organics. Check out pages 6-7 to learn all about the farm. At the co-op we believe in fostering lasting relationships with local farmers to support small-scale, traceable food systems. By working directly with those who nurture the land, we ensure the highest standards of sustainability and transparency. Together, we’re building a food system that supports our community and the environment, providing fresh, ethically sourced ingredients you can trust.
Friendly Service From People You Know
At the heart of our co-op is a commitment to community. When you walk through the doors, you're greeted by faces you recognize, people who genuinely care about your needs. We believe in the power of personal connections, offering more than just products – we offer a warm, familiar experience. Our team takes the time to understand your preferences, answer your questions, and ensure you're getting what you need, every time. Because at the end of the day, it's not just about business, it's about building relationships with the people who make our community thrive. That’s you!
This season let's gather our family and friends to enjoy the bounty of the beautiful Driftless region. I'm deeply grateful to be part of a community that truly values the cooperative spirit, where we uplift one another and share in the success of our collective efforts.
With gratitude,
Jan
