Spiced Hot Cocoa

What could be more comforting than a steaming cup of hot cocoa? A cup of cocoa that’s also infused with the soothing, anti-inflammatory qualities of turmeric, ginger and other spices might just comfort your aches and pains, too. Use your milk of choice for a cup of soothing, creamy cocoa.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons raw cocoa
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/8 teaspoon ginseng powder (optional)
- 2 cups almond milk or other milk
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
Preparation
- In a small pot, combine the cocoa, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, black pepper, cardamom and ginseng (if desired). Whisk to mix well.
- Whisk in the milk then the maple syrup.
- Place over medium heat and stir until the cocoa is hot, but not boiling, about 2 minutes. Serve immediately.
Serving Suggestions
Serve this creamy hot cocoa with a cinnamon stick for stirring or top with whipped coconut cream, if desired.
